The "Christian Right" Republican Party was an unholy alliance from the start.

Take everything Jesus stood for, then do exactly the opposite.

Take food away from the hungry. Oppress the poor, elderly and downtrodden. Hate on prisoners like crazy. Celebrate the rich and keep children who are born into generations of poverty at arm's length.

Point after point, there is no good reason for a "Christian Right" to exist. Selling their soul day after day for one issue that will never move an inch.

Yes, their politics are f'd up, but their theology is even more corrupt and self-serving.

At the end of the day, I choose to continue to live here but I'm a blue state guy at heart. I keep trying to wake the zombies out of their daze, to break the spell.

At its core, the problem is a wave of anti-intellectualism that is interwoven in the decline of religion, politics, commerce and culture. It is the defining characteristic of the "Red State American" in the first two decades of the 21st century.
